HOW TO GET TO PLAYA DEL CARMEN by: Plane: The closest major airport to Playa del Carmen is Cancun International Airport. ADO Busline offers direct service from Cancun International Airport to the local bus station in Playa del Carmen twice an hour. After passing through customs at Cancun Airport, you will come to an area filled with transportation service desks. Look for the ADO desk where you will be able to purchase your bus ticket to Playa del Carmen for $7. Driving from Cancun International Airport: Exit the Airport. Turn right onto the Federal Highway (before the overpass), following the signs to Playa del Carmen/Tulum. You will travel south for approximately 40km with the ocean on your left hand side. Although there is no official sign welcoming you to Playa del Carmen, once the area becomes more populated and you pass a large, over-sized, Coin Monument in the center of the highway, you will know that you are nearing the Center of the City of Playa del Carmen. You will make a left turn to get to the beach area. Airport Transfers: pdcPlaza's Online Business Directory lists companies in Playa del Carmen that offer Airport Transfers and Car Hires (Auto Rentals). Playa del Carmen Tours Playa del Carmen Rentals Bus: If you plan on arriving in Playa del Carmen by bus from another city in Mexico, you will most likely arrive at the Long Distance Bus Station in the north of Playa del Carmen. Ferry: If you will be arriving in Playa del Carmen by ferry from Cozumel, you will arrive at the 1st Av. Pier (muelle). |
